International air pollution prevention certificate

International Air Pollution Prevention certificate (IAPP) is applicable to vessels above 400 GRT to certify that the ship does not emit air pollutant, so it applies to all equipment on a ship which might emit such pollutants except following emissions:

  • Emissions which is necessary to safety of the ship or safety of lives at sea
  • Emissions resulting from damage to a ship or its equipment

IOPP is subject to periodical surveys as follows:

Initial survey: at the beginning of the certification loop

Annual survey at the first, second, third and fourth anniversary date of the initial survey with a window of three mounts before or after

Intermediate survey as the middle of the survey loop but to be practicable it always replace the third annual survey

Renewal survey when IAPP certificate is expired

Scope of IOPP survey includes the following:

  • DOCUMENTATION
  • OZONE DEPLETING SUBSTANCES CONTROL
  • NITROGEN OXIDES(NOx) EMISSION CONTROL
  • SULFUR OXIDES EMMISION CONTROL
  • VOLATILE ORGANICS COMPUNDS EMISSION CONTROL
  • INCINERATORS
