Engine International Air Pollution Prevention certificate is issued for all marine diesel engine of output power of 130 KW or more except engines used solely for emergency or to power another equipment used for emergency

Every diesel engine above 130 KW shall undergo the following surveys:

• Pre-certification survey before engine installation onboard to ensure that the NOx emission by the engine as designed and equipped meets the emission requirements stated in the NOx code
• Initial survey after the engine is installed onboard and before it is placed in service to ensure that the specification surveyed during pre-certification is still in place  and that emission is complying with emission limits set in the NOx code
• Annuals surveys at the second, third and fourth anniversary of initial survey
• Intermediate survey at the third anniversary date
• Renewal survey upon EIAP expiry date
• Initial survey every time major conversion is made to the engine

EIAPP certificate is issued valid for maximum of five years
